Speedy Reading

Hey guys, Rafsun here. This year I have been trying to do something new every single day. In this little quest of mine I came to learn about speed reading which is basically a way of reading books faster. In todays article I will share tips about how to read faster.

Using a pointer/ Tracker

By simply using a tracker or pointer (e.g. a nip of the pencil or a ruler) to block your vision to jump around increases your speed of reading by at least 20%.

Use a blocker to block a line above

When we read a book what we generally do is that we tend to go back to the line we were reading if we don’t understand the line enough. This reduces our speed. Thus, try to practice blocking the line above with a card (in my case a non-transparent ruler) which helps a ton when it comes to speed reading.

Limit Subvocalisation

Limiting sub vocalization is one of the great ways to speedup your reading speed. We are used to read aloud by childhood and what limits us is our subconscious mind where we vocalize every word we read. Try touch your tip of lips with your tongue while reading or simply use white noise from YouTube so you focus less on what’s happening around you or spend less time inside your brain.

Start reading your non fictions from the last chapter.

Most of us read non fictions when we want to gather condensed knowledge what I usually do is to get to the good parts first and utilize time to my advantage thus I use this trick to read a nonfiction from the last chapter and from the last page of every chapter.

That's it for this post guys. Our next post will be by Nathaniel, and will cover mobile gaming! Stick around!
